My specialties include supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, grief, self-esteem concerns, school-related challenges, trauma, chronic illness, women's issues, domestic violence recovery, and major life transitions. I also specialize in Brainspotting, a brain-body approach that can support deeper emotional healing, grounding, and personal empowerment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is gentle, supportive, and goal-oriented. I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs, taking into account your experiences, personality, strengths, and preferences. Through a collaborative and compassionate approach, we can work together toward greater stability, self-understanding, and meaningful growth. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you feel heard and understood, while developing practical tools, building self-awareness, and creating lasting, positive change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy sessions may incorporate a variety of approaches and techniques based on your individual needs, including Brainspotting (a brain-body-based approach), mindfulness, coping skills, self-care practices, effective communication, bilateral music, and short guided meditation. These tools can support greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and connection between the mind and body. Reaching out for support is a meaningful first step. Janae is supportive and never judgmental, making it safe to open up about my past traumas. Brainspotting has provided deeper healing I haven’t gotten with years of talk therapy, highly effective & recommend!
Janae did a wonderful job of balancing a gentle approach & delivering tough love. I have been struggling for years to find a good fit and am so thankful I finally found the perfect therapist for me :)
Janae is down to earth, genuine, and grounding. I’ve worked with her for 3 years! She’s easy to talk to (love her humor) and always listens. She does healing Brainspotting and provides helpful handouts/resources for at home!
Janae helped get my motivation back and was there when I had little support. She even went out of her way and gave me referrals to a great psychiatrist and PCP for extra support. Always helpful and non-judgmental.
Working with Janae has been life-changing. I’ve learned ADHD coping skills, which have significantly helped me as a student, professional, and personal life. Thank you for the continued support!
Janae provided invaluable support and insight, helping me build effective coping skills to better manage anxiety over the last few years. Her compassionate approach has made a significant impact in my therapy journey, mental heath, and overall well-being. I truly felt seen, heard, and supported.
Janae is an amazing therapist. Her deep understanding and perspective into mental health, well-being and mindfulness make our sessions incredibly beneficial. Brainspotting has been a deeply healing experience and allowed me to access, process and release emotions. Highly recommend!
I decided after going through some extremely difficult times in my life, to "realize" I need help. Someone who I can talk to, who will not judge me, but, listen. Really listen. I felt completely comfortable as well as "safe," in sharing my dealing with death, suicide, family issues, as well as physical abuse. Ms. Gardner gave me healthy coping mechanisms, as well as gaining my trust in her. I felt like she TRULY cared about ME:) So hard to find!! A TRUE professional, as well as someone I can truly talk to and has compassion and truly cares. I HIGHLY recommend her!!!:)
