Dr. Amelia Fairfax, MD

Dr. Amelia Fairfax, MD

Primary Care Doctor
10-B Farmfield Ave, Charleston, SC
My family is responsible for helping me choose medicine as my career path. They saw my interests in science and in caring for people, and encouraged me to go to nursing school. After one semester, I realized I enjoyed my science classes more than my nursing classes, so I switched to pre-med, a decision I am happy with to this day. I have now been a physician for more than 30 years. Those decades have shown me how much I benefit from knowing not just my patients but their families. I can provide the best care possible when I have a complete picture of my patients' lives, not just their health. I still work to educate myself on the latest treatment methods and advances in care. I have a special interest in helping women with midlife healthcare concerns, and I have recently become certified as a menopause care provider. Research about advances in this field fascinates me, and I see firsthand each day how it benefits my patients. Hobbies keep me busy away from the office. I enjoy running and biking to stay healthy and active myself. I also like crafting when I get a few quiet minutes at home. I am a fan of the College of Charleston Cougars basketball team, and I watch games whenever I get a chance.
