What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider?
Having been in vulnerable medical situations, I understand that providing a safe place while being both compassionate and dependable is invaluable. It is very rewarding to build relationships with patients and to help them learn about their health issues so they can take control of their health. I have a knack for understanding disease processes and then simplifying and explaining those complex issues to patients. I earned my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University, Kirksville, Missouri Campus, which has further shaped my approach to holistic patient care.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
I value shared decision-making above all. And to do that properly, a patient needs to understand all the options, including potential risks and benefits. Education is key.

Spending time with family, reading, woodworking, traveling, camping, hiking—anything outdoors.

Told her I had an eating disorder and she proceed to tell me that I have a food addiction. I’ve done a lot of work to get to the point where I’m not scared of food. Now, I feel like I never want to eat again.

I waited for 30 minutes for Dr. Bruner to show up (actually 35 minutes because I joined five minutes early like they asked me to). She never showed up. At the 30 minute mark I was kicked out of the appointment. I saw another review saying that she didn’t show for an appointment (however many other positive reviews) so clearly these appointments aren’t important to this provider. I am so frustrated because I completely rearranged my day for this. For reference, I did all of the pre check-in requirements. Uploaded my insurance and driver’s license, checked into the appointment, and confirmed the appointment. What a bummer.

Unfortunately, the appointment was for a prescription refill which as Tele-Med Doctor, she can not prescribe more than 12 pills of a controlled substance. Therefore, we agreed this was not helpful given my request in ZocDoc and Insurance coverage.

Super easy intake process. She asked questions to establish my family medical history as well as mine and listened attentively to my concerns and what was going on. I was able to get referred to a specialist for what needs to be treated and also was prescribed medication on the spot which works out perfectly for me. She also sent me links to better understand what I was diagnosed with and explained each step to the process and what to expect next.

It felt like Doctor Cathleen Bruner was deliberately trying to extend the session for next appointment. She didn't even look at my lab results even after asking for 3 times. I didn't get a diagnosis or any recommendation. Was asked for a follow up appointment to check my lab results. She is a very slow speaker. I felt like I had to explain same thing over and over again and this session was a complete waste of my time.
