Debbie Lugtu, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, my name is Debbie Grace Lugtu. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master's degree in Counseling from Palo Alto University, where I graduated in 2020 and was inducted into the Counseling Honor Society. I work from a strength-based and narrative therapy approach. In the first sessions, I focus heavily on rapport building and listening to your narrative/story. Throughout our work, I use an attachment-based lens to understand the underlying issues and their origins. I employ narrative therapy to help you re-author your story. Alongside this, I teach coping skills such as Mindfulness and CBT. My approach My ideal client is reflective, as I ask questions to dive deep and explore underlying issues and themes to help gain insight. I believe every person has a story to share and the power to re-author or create their own narrative. In our sessions, you will also learn Mindfulness, CBT, and DBT skills to manage emotions and stress. My focus I specialize in working with teens and adults struggling with depression, self-esteem issues, anxiety, and trauma. My communication style I am strength-based and use encouraging language while following your lead. I am introspective and collaborate closely with you. My journey to mental healthcare I enjoy working collaboratively with people to help them better understand and be compassionate toward themselves. Coming from an environment that didn't understand mental health, I found it important to advocate for mental health care, which led me to this profession. My goals for you I work collaboratively with clients, following their lead to develop treatment goals they want to focus on in therapy. My first session with you In the first sessions, I prioritize rapport building and listening to your narrative/story.
