About Dr. Kannya Asokan
Dr. Kannya Asokan is board certified in internal medicine and practices with Comprehensive Primary Care at the new location in Frederick, MD. For over 15 years, Dr. Asokan has used her experience to her advantage in treating young healthy adults as well as frail elderly patients with multiple co-morbidities. Dr. Asokan earned her medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, from P.S.G. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. She then completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. Dr. Asokan has made a significant impact on her patients and helped to highlight key elements for providing good patient care. She strongly believes in empowering her patients to voice their concerns while being a good listener. Dr. Asokan systematically fosters a strong doctor-patient relationship, which ultimately improves her patients’ compliance and confidence in her. As a believer in building good relationships with her geriatric patients, Dr. Asokan manages some acute emergencies in an outpatient setting, such as asthma and COPD exacerbations. As soon as I arrived I was greeted, the folks at the office were super friendly, accommodating and most of the doctor was a great listener. I highly recommend this office because of the staff attitude.

The doctor was nice, but very soft-spoken. I was a bit confused when she asked about dietary restrictions though. I have not been given any by a doctor previously outside of pregnancy, but I was coming in because my morning blood sugar was high. I decided to check after having gestational diabetes during a previous pregnancy. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes as of yet, so I have not been following the diabetic diet. She then mentioned concentrated sugars, I think she was trying to recommend I watch sugars since my morning numbers were high but it was just a but confusing the way she asked.
I otherwise liked her and felt like she listened and was efficient.

Dr. Asokan, Evelyn, and Jenny are awesome, knowledgeable and friendly. It’s not often you’re greeted with genuine warm smiles at a doctor’s office. Good vibes all around. Would highly recommend the ladies at the Frederick location. Dr Asokan is my new favorite PCP. Thank you, I finally feel like I’m on the true path to recovery, healing and better quality of life.
