About Dr. Sakeitha Crowder
As an internal medicine and geriatric medicine physician, I enjoy building long-term relationships with patients and helping them manage the health needs that can come with aging. Caring for older adults means looking beyond a single diagnosis and understanding how a patient's whole life, including their home, their family and their daily routines, affects their health.After earning my medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, I completed my internal medicine residency and a fellowship in geriatric medicine, both at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. I'm board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine. My research during training focused on gastrointestinal health and safe medication use in older adults, work that shaped how I approach care today. I've also had the privilege of teaching medical students and nurse practitioner students, guiding them in outpatient primary care, underserved care and geriatric medicine.Outside of medicine, I lead a full and joy-filled life. I'm an ardent flower gardener and love cultivating my culinary skills in the kitchen. The arts hold a special place in my heart; I find deep fulfillment in observing and participating in music ensembles, photography, painting, drama and expressive dance. I've played the clarinet and piano for over 20 years, and music remains a meaningful thread throughout my life. I'm passionate about inspirational speaking and mentoring teens and young adults as they work toward their academic and career goals. I'm also an active member of my church, where I serve as a pianist, singer, director and in young adult ministries.
