“I've been on the fence about my drinking for years. My depression has gotten much worse over time, and my doctor said I need to quit alcohol right now or things are going to get worse for my body really fast. Aaron helped me figure out what I needed to do. He is super experienced, and offers alot of insightful feedback. Most importantly, he was accepting of me at a time when most people in my life weren't. Recommend x100.”

Getting to know Aaron Rohrer

Are you or a loved one struggling with issues related to anxiety, substance use, trauma, or other major life changes? Join me on a journey to help bring new direction to your life. Together, we can work to build new coping skills and find a path forward. I provide a highly personalized and holistic approach that integrates multiple therapeutic methods. I'd love to help you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. Working with clients for over 17 years, I have provided psychological services in the San Francisco Bay Area as a clinician and supervisor at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation Stonewall Project and as a counselor in a dual diagnosis mental health treatment program in San Francisco. I have extensive experience supporting adults and adolescents with acute mental health or substance use issues, older adults, adults living with chronic health conditions or HIV, and gay/bi-identifying men. My specialties include acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, substance use counseling, harm reduction psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and motivational interviewing. I hold a Master's in Social Work from California State University, East Bay, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

I've seen a few therapists over the years - I am lucky to have finally found Aaron. I have made alot of progress since I've started seeing him. He has helped me learn skills to cope with anxiety, depression, and finally get a hold over my substance abuse. He uses a variety of techniques in his therapy and seems to stay very well informed. I've recommended a few friends to him over the years.
Aaron helped my husband move forward with his life - trauma and alcohol use aren't affecting him like they used to. Our family is forever grateful!
Aaron's approach is relaxed and laid back while still being present and intentional. I've found a great deal of comfort with him as he has helped me navigate some extremely tough times recently.
Very easy-going personality and a great listener. Good memory of what we talked about before. Dependable with appointments. Good listener. Feel comfortable in the sessions. Would recommend Aaron.
