What should a new client know about working with you?

You deserve a life where you feel joy, peace, and freedom. One of the bravest things we can do as humans is to ask for help. However, therapy does not need to feel scary or painful. I hope to help you connect to and trust your own inner wisdom and strength. Together we can face life’s complexities that you wrestle with and use them as the seeds for growth and transformation. Many people today are struggling to successfully navigate their lives while facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, family/relationship conflicts, and all the stresses that living in the 21st century can bring. I want to help you get to a place where you feel able to deal with life on life's terms, and to find meaning/purpose in work, family, friendships, spirituality, and all other life areas. I am a licensed independent clinical social worker who provides mental health therapy to individuals. I enjoy working with clients who are focused on personal growth, healing, and self discovery. I want you to feel heard and accepted so that you can discover more fully who you are and how you want to be in relationship with others and yourself. I provide you a safe, respectful, and confidential space, and time to connect. My therapy approach is eclectic, drawing upon various aspects of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic methods to create my own custom-made approach to fit your needs. The therapy I offer is grounded in the understanding that a secure relationship with oneself and others is a basic foundation for health. I practice a humanistic method that takes a positive view of human nature and emphasizes the uniqueness of the individual. I think that the labels we give ourselves are only helpful when they bring peace and understanding. I have a grounding in mindfulness, meditation, and somatic experiencing, with a goal of helping you feel connected to your body, heart, and soul. Way to be brave and take the first steps toward feeling better! I look forward to working with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Going through therapy with a therapist can be a very beneficial experience for individuals who want to work through their mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being. Here are some steps you can take to make the most of your therapy experience: - Find the right therapist: The first step is to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. Look for someone who specializes in the type of issues you want to address and whose style matches your preferences. I hope I can be that person for you. - Set clear goals: It's important to have clear goals for therapy so that you and I are on the same page. In our first session, we will discuss your goals and work together to create a treatment plan that outlines the steps you will take to achieve those goals. - Try to be open and honest with me about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am here to help you, and I can only do so if I have a clear understanding of what's going on. - Trust the process: Therapy can be a long process, and it's important to trust that the work you're doing with me will pay off in the end. It's also important to be patient and not expect instant results. - Practice self-care: In addition to attending therapy sessions, it's important to practice self-care on a regular basis. This may include activities such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. - Keep an open mind: Finally, it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to try new things. As your therapist, I may suggest different techniques or approaches that you haven't tried before, and it's important to be receptive to these suggestions. Remember, therapy is a collaborative process between you and me, so be sure to communicate your thoughts and concerns along the way. With the right mindset and a willingness to work, therapy can be a transformative experience that helps you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.
