Getting to know Abigail Wilson

I work with young professional women navigating quarter-life concerns including anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston, which equips me to provide compassionate and effective support during these pivotal moments.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I view therapy as a collaborative relationship that fosters a safe space for healing and growth. I love working with women in their 20’s and 30’s who are motivated to grow and have a desire to understand themselves on a deeper level. I also have a special place in my heart for women with unresolved attachment trauma/relationship wounds from the past. In therapy, I’ll help you gain insight into how your past has impacted you and how we can move forward with intention. We’ll gain clarity around your values and what truly matters to you so we can work towards creating a meaningful and fulfilling life - whatever that looks like to you. My commitment is to not judge you, and to provide a space where you can show up as your authentic self.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach in therapy is relational, collaborative, and grounded in humanistic and existential philosophy. I work to maintain a balance of being warm and empathetic, while also challenging my clients to see things from a new perspective. I know firsthand how vulnerable it can be to open up in therapy, which is why my priority is to create a relationship where you feel safe and never judged. We’ll address your relationship to yourself, others, and the world. We’ll explore how your past has shaped you so we can work towards creating a healthier present and future. Being human means that life will inevitably present us with challenges - this does not mean there is something wrong with you or that you need to fix yourself. I believe we all have our own set of gifts and innate strengths, and therapy is a space that promotes growth in discovering those strengths that lie within.
