Hi there, I'm Adam! Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the field for nearly 20 years. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2005 and have worked with many different populations throughout my career. I primarily have focused on treating depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma but also have experience working with patients with mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder My approach I generally like to utilize the basic concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat most anxiety and depression issues. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which has been helpful in treating trauma My focus I primarily work with adults and have worked with people from all sorts of backgrounds My communication style I generally keep a very calm demeanor when I am in session. I do ask a lot of questions in an effort to understand my clients but ultimately I want to hear what you have to say. My journey to mental healthcare I always felt I was a good listener when people I knew were talking about problems. It gives me a great insight into who they are as a person and how they function through their lives. Seeing people get better and work on their issues is what keeps me going to do this work My goals for you I try to keep goals fairly simple and collaborative. Basically just focus on how you will know you are making progress and ultimately feel you are ready to graduate from therapy My first session with you I generally want to focus on coping mechanisms during the first session after gaining a thorough background and understanding of the problem. I rely heavily on meditation and breathing techniques to cope with the thoughts that are contributing to the issues. Subsequent sessions can go deeper with understanding elements of the past and coping with fears about the future.
