Getting to know Ady Benyishay

My name is Javier Mel?ndez, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. I'm grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside others on their journey toward healing and wholeness. I have a love for nature and the outdoors, and I believe that reestablishing our connection to nature and the Earth is essential to our physical and psychological well-being. In my practice, I use mindfulness and embodiment in the context of nature to help empower clients throughout their therapeutic journey. I'm experienced in addressing issues related to spirituality, trauma, and sexual identity for teen clients ages 14-19, as well as adults. I also treat disorders that often accompany these areas, such as anxiety, depression, existential distress, eco-grief, and parent/child relationship issues. With my combined experience as a licensed clinical social worker and youth and young adult minister, I have at least 10 years of counseling experience. I am able to provide Christian counseling for those interested. I identify as bi and am able to support LGBTQ+ individuals who have experienced spiritual trauma or abuse, and/or those who are deconstructing or rebuilding their faith. I am bilingual in Spanish and English and have worked with Central American immigrant populations, as well as families whose children are growing up in a culture different from that of their immigrant parents. My hope is that clients become more in tune with their thoughts, emotions, body, and nature to more effectively regulate their nervous system, promoting a more mindful, embodied, and connected way of life. Together, we can work toward self-acceptance, spiritual peace, and conflict resolution within family relationships. I look forward to working with you and commend you for taking this step toward wholeness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is for every client to start accepting themselves for both their strengths and weaknesses with no conditions through being authentic and using both our hearts and heads.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
