Getting to know Aimee Armata

Are you curious about the impact of your past on your present? Are you interested in exploring your relationship patterns and choices? Do you often feel misunderstood or invalidated? Do you long to feel seen and valued for who you are and how you are? Are you drawn to desire, liberation, and an expansion of your worldview? I have deep, personal connections to these pathways of inquiry and reflection and am eager to engage in this work with others. I am a psychotherapist passionately committed to individual, collective, and community wellness. I believe relationships are the site of both injury and transformation. Our relationship will provide a space for connection, safety, and recovery. I work from a person- and culture-centered, psychodynamic/depth perspective and understand suffering as transgenerational, racial, cultural, and personal/interpersonal. I approach "problems" as ineffective solutions and "symptoms" as expressions of what we cannot yet put into words. Our work together will be to locate those words-and speak them. I hold a Master's degree in Psychology and Community Mental Health from the California Institute of Integral Studies, which informs my holistic and integrative approach to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Initially, we will explore your goals and priorities for therapy, experience with past therapies . We will collaborate to create a vision of a preferred future, based in the foundation of your personal and cultural values. We will collaborate to make meaning from potentially disconnected experiences that may increase your emotional regulation, flexibility and tolerance for holding tension and complexity with decreased defensive rigidity.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
