Psychotherapist

I come from a large family and learned from individuals with different personalities and gifts. I learned how unique everyone was at a young age and it made me curious about what makes people different. I was an observer, often a mediator, and an advocate. Growing up this way set the stage for a career in mental health. It gave me the curiosity to understand others. It gave me the heart to encourage individuals to have compassion for their challenges as well as gifts and the passion to help them become who they authentically are.

Getting to know Aki Mori

I come from a large family and learned from individuals with different personalities and gifts. I learned how unique everyone was at a young age and it made me curious about what makes people different. I was an observer, often a mediator, and an advocate. Growing up this way set the stage for a career in mental health. It gave me the curiosity to understand others. It gave me the heart to encourage individuals to have compassion for their challenges as well as gifts and the passion to help them become who they authentically are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m certified in EMDR and integrate ACT, CBT, DBT, and somatic approaches to incorporate the body and mind in healing. My approach is compassionate, informative, collaborative, and down-to-earth — it is my priority to create a space where you feel safe and supported. Trauma and anxiety are only some of the experiences a lot of us feel we must “figure out” on our own. Together, we can work toward building a sense of self that feels grounded, authentic, and sustainable and a life that feels beautifully yours.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Client's can expect to be asked questions about what's bringing them into therapy and be heard with curiosity, compassion, and respect. I will ask about what they want out of therapy and what they feel they need. We will address any issues or concerns they have about being in the space. During our first session, I will ask client's to expand on their history and their symptoms at a pace that feels encouraging and comfortable for them.
