Getting to know Alan Wong

Hi there, I'm Alan! My name is Alan Wong, and I am an LCSW with experience helping clients manage stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, anger management, and depression. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I am a certified therapist in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, certified by the Academy of Cognitive and Behavior Therapies. I am also a believer and follower of Jesus Christ and am available to provide Christian-based counseling. My approach As a certified cognitive therapist, I specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). CBT helps people identify, challenge, and replace unhealthy thought patterns with adaptive and healthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also utilize psychodynamic therapy to explore the root causes-such as past hurts and trauma-behind presenting behavioral challenges. My focus I have experience working with a wide age range of clients, both children and adults, and with diverse ethnic backgrounds. I typically work with clients facing grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, work/life balance, self-care, coping with life changes, anger management, workplace issues, racial injustice, relationship problems, marriage and family challenges, and self-esteem concerns. My communication style I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathic environment where clients can openly process their feelings. I aim to validate and normalize their experiences while maintaining cultural sensitivity. Using CBT, I offer structure and practical tools, including worksheets, to help clients challenge unhealthy thought patterns. My journey to therapy My career as a therapist was inspired by my father, who was also a social worker dedicated to serving veterans. His commitment motivated me to find deep meaning in helping people overcome difficult life circumstances. As a male Asian-American therapist, I bring a unique perspective to my work.
