“Alanna is incredibly patient, kind, and thoughtful. She does a wonderful job connecting with my preteen, who is not easy to talk to at time. Her calm demeanor, and ability to really hear and see my daughter is hard to find and a true gift. We appreciate her very much.”

Getting to know Alanna Walker

Hi there, I'm Alanna! My name is Alanna Walker, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I earned my Masters in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno. Currently, I provide telehealth services for clients in California and have also provided both in-person and telehealth services for clients in Nevada. I am certified in dialectical behavioral therapy and domestic violence, with additional training in substance use disorder and addiction. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the clients needs. In practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered, and Solution-Focused techniques. I believe in meeting clients where they are and setting realistic treatment goals. I also encourage clients to ride the wave and try not to become stuck in the issue or negative thoughts. My focus The population I serve ranges from children to adults. I have experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, and substance use disorders. I strive to encourage my clients to address underlying issues, build their support systems, identify unhealthy coping mechanisms, and explore healthier coping strategies to help reduce their symptoms. My communication style My communication style is patient, friendly, respectful, non-judgmental, supportive, and humble. I set the tone of each session based on the clients I am seeing. I am adaptable and flexible. When working with children, I try to include board games, activities, and music. My approach with teens and adults depends on what they are comfortable with. I also incorporate meditation and mindfulness activities. My journey to mental healthcare I became interested in the helping profession as a child. At the time, I didnt know I would become a therapist, but I am grateful and happy that I am. My life experiences have fueled my passion to help others become the best versions of themselves.

I chose Alana because having a therapist who could understand both my Black and queer experience was important to me. From the beginning, I felt a level of understanding that didn’t always require explanation—sometimes she just gets it. Her warmth, insight, and ability to meet me where I am have made therapy feel safe, genuine, and incredibly meaningful.
