Getting to know Alexander Douglas
To make sure I am what you are looking for, please note: I am a psychotherapist, not an M.D., and therefore cannot prescribe medication. My practice is cash pay and does not accept insurance. Payment must be provided prior to the initial session. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I provide psychotherapy and EMDR in person in Hermosa Beach and online across CA for men, high achievers & public figures, and those struggling with addiction and addictive behaviors.
I am an expert in working with men who appear to have life figured out: they are often high achievers with a seemingly ideal family. Yet under the surface they are struggling. I am skilled in addressing challenges such as anger management, intimacy and sexuality, infidelity, addictive behaviors, anxiety, career vs identity, defining masculinity, and the impact of life transitions on a man’s mental health and sense of masculinity.
I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based treatment with which I have had success treating traumas such as PTSD, sexual and physical assault, childhood trauma, and phobias.
A parent of two children, myself, I have specific expertise in working with new fathers. I help men address the challenges of balancing personal identity, family roles, and fatherly responsibilities. I empower men to embrace their roles as fathers with confidence and authenticity, helping them
I offer a safe space to share absolutely anything, with zero judgment. I approach my clients with authenticity, fearlessness, warmth and insight. Together we will learn the origins of your pain and develop skills to help you bring change in the present. And find the meaning and happiness you deserve. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy in person in Hermosa Beach, CA and online throughout California.

Ongoing session: $300 for 50 minutes

I am able to provide a "superbill" which clients can submit to their insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement after first paying for the session themselves.

Our 14yo son has been very distant lately, and having trouble at school. This has caused a lot of tension and arguments in our home. My husband and I were at our wit's end with what to do. We each met with Alex individually, as well as a group, and he has helped us all tremendously. Alex was very kind and understanding to our situation, and he provided us with practical solutions to help us navigate through our issues. I recommend him highly.
