Getting to know Alexandra Glenn

Becoming a mother is supposed to feel joyful. So why does it feel like you’re constantly on edge? Instead of soaking in the sweetness, your mind feels loud and relentless. You replay pediatric appointments, question every decision, and feel guilty for snapping when you’re overwhelmed. Intrusive thoughts about your baby’s safety scare you. The anxiety doesn’t shut off, even when your baby sleeps. Some days you feel rage. Other days you feel numb. Beneath it all is the fear: “I’m not cut out for this” or “I’m losing who I used to be.” You want to feel like yourself again...steady, confident, and present with your child. My goal is to ensure women do not have to face these conditions or stages of life alone. Together, we can work to manage symptoms and find ways to support you through this chapter in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with women facing postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, and other maternal mental health challenges. Together, we untangle anxious spirals, burnout, and self-doubt so you can feel in control of your mind, connected to your children, and thriving in motherhood — not just surviving it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe the client is the expert of their life and use my expertise to collaborate with clients in dealing with their life challenges. Using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I aim to help clients recognize the impact their thoughts have on their feelings and behaviors and work together to identify and manage their cognitive distortions.

I had one session with this therapist and, unfortunately, did not feel a strong sense of connection. The session lacked warmth and engagement, with long pauses and frequent glances away, which made it feel impersonal—almost as if she were reading from a screen. While every therapist has a different style, this one was not the right fit for me.
