“Alexandra has been my therapist for years now, and we recently moved to this platform. She is like the grandma I always wished I had. So supportive, kind, and open-minded. She's always found just the right way to help me find the right direction to go, and I attribute so much of my mental health progress to her steady support and her way of finding just the right way to make me think about what the right thing to do is.”

Getting to know Alexandra I Stobaugh

As a therapist for over 20 years, I have been privileged to walk alongside so many adults—young, old, and young at heart—through numerous phases and transitions, facing an endless variety of life's challenges. I am fond of saying I carry the flashlight to point out paths and possibilities for consideration, always from a positive perspective. My life as a therapist has evolved as an imperfect human navigating life's complicated choices, twists and turns, and different career opportunities. All of these experiences have been additive, expanding my understanding, acceptance, and ability to share more with you. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Sacramento, which has provided a strong foundation for my clinical work. My past clinical focus has been in anxiety, PTSD, trauma, depression, substance abuse, hospice, palliative care, chronic and severe mental illness, and LIFE. Life is a long series of transitions, and we can absolutely be our own best navigators.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You drive the boat. We start with history and information gathering so I can catch up with what you already know about you, within your comfort level. We set goals together and establish a way of working that fits you. There is often homework (I try to avoid the use of 'always and never') to help you practice a specific aspect of your work. I hope clients come to session with updates, observations, revelations and discoveries. I will always be as excited about the work as you are.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
