Hello, and I’m really glad you’re here! My name is Alexandra “Alex” Ruetz, and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, anxiety, and overwhelming life stressors. I’ve spent the past 6 years studying to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Florida International University, and went on to complete my Master’s degree at the University of Central Florida. My background has given me a strong foundation in understanding both the emotional and systemic impacts of trauma. I’m a Florida native who grew up in South Florida and now lives in Central Florida. Outside of credentials, I’m just someone who genuinely cares about helping people heal, feel seen, and find their way back to themselves. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that don’t feel like “you,” we can work through that together at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you’re navigating the effects of past abuse, anxiety, or ongoing stress, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Getting to know Alexandra Ruetz

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is both direct and deeply empathetic. I’m not the kind of therapist who will sit back and nod. I will be honest with you, challenge unhelpful patterns, and gently call things out when needed. At the same time, I do this with care and respect, so you feel supported, not judged. I take an eclectic approach, meaning I tailor therapy to you rather than forcing you into a single model. I meet you where you are, while also helping you move forward in a real, tangible way. I’m trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While these approaches are especially effective for processing all kinds of trauma, they’re also incredibly helpful for anxiety, grief, and ongoing life stress. Together, we can work on understanding and calming anxious thoughts, processing loss in a way that feels manageable, and breaking patterns that leave you feeling stuck or overwhelmed. I believe therapy should lead to meaningful change, not just insight, but real shifts in how you feel and function day to day. I’ll support you, but I’ll also help push you when you’re ready, so you can start feeling more in control, more grounded, and more like yourself again.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, my goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and emotionally safe space where you can begin to show up just as you are. I know starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and I don’t take that lightly. What matters most to me is that you don’t just feel heard, but genuinely understood. We’ll take time to talk about what brought you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you’re hoping for moving forward, without pressure to share more than you’re ready for. You set the pace. I’ll meet you there.
