Alexandria Ayres, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Alexandria! My name is Alex Ayres, and I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara. I have been licensed in California for 1 year and have 8 years of experience working in the mental health field. During that time, I have supported clients facing a wide range of mental health diagnoses and challenges, including stress and anxiety, sleeping disorders, bipolar disorder, and depression. My overall style combines gentle encouragement with psychoeducation and person-centered tailoring to meet your unique and specific needs. My approach I utilize interventions from various orientations, including CBT, Humanistic, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe successful therapy starts with good rapport, so I like to get to know folks a bit before diving into things! My focus I provide teletherapy (audio and visual) primarily to adults experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression. My communication style Clients have described me as a good listener-supportive, warm, and encouraging. I like to provide psychoeducation and tools during our sessions to support symptom management, but my approach is flexible and tailored to each individual. My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to psychology in college after taking a social psychology course. From there, I pursued the clinical route, realizing how a therapist can help someone study and understand themselves to promote change and reduce psychological distress. It seemed so interesting to me! I believe having someone to be accountable to when making changes-or just someone to listen without judgment-is a rare resource. Therapists provide that nonjudgmental space, and being part of that resource is what drives me to do this work. My goals for you I like to discuss goals with clients initially and throughout therapy, as they may evolve over time.
