Getting to know Alexis Winegar
Are you going through a transition in life? Are you struggling with navigating feelings, decisions, or conflicts? You have already made a courageous first step by seeking help! My goal is to provide a safe space for you to realize your strengths, identify and process your emotions, and work through the challenges that may be keeping you "stuck." I take a person-centered approach to therapy, drawing from techniques and theories across various modalities to help you adjust and grow through your unique experiences. While I value clinical interventions, creating an environment that feels safe and welcoming is my top priority.
I hold a MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Lynchburg. I have experience building rapport and creating therapeutic relationships with children, adolescents, and adults navigating all phases of life. Although my specialization is in processing trauma, particularly with children, I have worked with many issues, including depression, anxiety, sexuality, and relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?
I hope that clients can take away feeling supported, empowered and "at home." My goal is always to create a safe, secure place to process feelings and identify areas of life they would like to learn to cope with better.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Alexis is amazing, I have had therapists before but she by far stands out. She see’s me, and recognizes my strength while reminding me that there is evidence that I am strong. It’s never fluff with her, always keeps me focused on the goal when emotion arises. I have been through a lot of different things and I don’t like to share but Alexis makes me feel like I can with no judgement but also showing understanding.
