“My intake appointment with Lexi was absolutely wonderful! She brought a very attentive and calming energy to the meeting, and felt very present throughout. Oftentimes meeting with a therapist for the first time can feel awkward, but Lexi sought to mitigate this as much as possible. She sought to get to know me, shared some things about herself and made it clear this was a collaborative process from the start. I'm really excited to continue working with her and working towards my therapeutic goals. ”

Getting to know Alexis Zimmerman

The provider is a “Licensed Social Worker" and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Bloom Practice LCSW, PLLC. I know first hand what it feels like to be lost, unsettled, and desperate for a change. From a young age, I struggled with anxiety, depression, and a deep sense of loss. Therapy didn’t always feel helpful; truthfully, I was very apprehensive about it due to never finding the right fit. In my early 20’s, I became determined to break the cycle of emotional spiraling I had been stuck in and decided to give it another try. My self healing journey led me to develop healthy coping mechanisms, connect with my inner child, learn more about myself, and find a therapist I love. I feel grateful that I am now in a place where I can help others do the same.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Today, I specialize in supporting clients through grief and loss, major transitions, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, depression, and identity struggles. I especially enjoy working with children, teens, and young adults as they navigate difficult times and life changes. I’m also a strong advocate for the disability and neurodivergent communities, and I spend a lot of time researching ways to better support individuals on the autism spectrum. My goal is to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, empowering, and grounding—where you don’t have to hold everything alone. Originally from Pennsylvania, I now live in Manhattan with my boyfriend and Pomeranian, Curtis. I am licensed to see clients in both New York and New Jersey. I received my Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University, and Bachelor of Arts degree in both history and philosophy from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. I am currently pursuing my Master of Public Health degree at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use a holistic approach to therapy, integrating Eastern and Western philosophies, spirituality, and traditional therapy. I draw from evidence based practices while also honoring intuition, mindfulness, and heart-mind connection. Sessions should feel like an engaging conversation built on trust, curiosity, and collaboration. I aim to create a warm, non-judgmental space where we look for patterns, explore underlying themes, shift perspectives, and create practical steps to live a meaningful life. I deeply value self-understanding and acceptance. I also bring a public health lens to the work, always considering the broader systems and environments that shape our well-being. At the core, my goal is to hold space for clients to feel seen, heard, and supported as they reconnect with themselves. Please know that you are never alone, and that it is never too late to change or create the life you want for yourself.
