Hello! I’m Alicia Villa, a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor providing therapy in English and Spanish. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem, identity, and everyday stress. As a first-generation Mexican American, I recognize the meaningful role that culture, family, faith, identity, and lived experiences can play in our emotional well-being. I am passionate about providing culturally responsive care and creating a space where clients can explore these parts of themselves openly and without judgment. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. I primarily use a psychodynamic approach, helping clients explore how past experiences and relationships may influence current emotions, behaviors, and patterns. I also have training and experience in play therapy and use developmentally appropriate interventions when working with younger clients. I especially enjoy supporting women, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate identity development, relationships, cultural expectations, transitions, and personal growth. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where you feel heard and understood while developing greater insight, confidence, and tools for meaningful change.

Getting to know Alicia Villa

Hello! I’m Alicia Villa, a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor providing therapy in English and Spanish. What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and centered around you. I believe meaningful change begins with feeling safe enough to be yourself, so I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you can talk openly about your experiences, emotions, relationships, and concerns. My primary approach is psychodynamic, which means we may explore how past experiences, relationships, family dynamics, and cultural influences have shaped the way you understand yourself and respond to situations today. Together, we can identify patterns, strengthen self-awareness, and explore new ways of approaching challenges. I also recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I tailor our work to your individual needs, goals, values, culture, and stage of life. As a bilingual therapist, I provide care in both English and Spanish and welcome conversations about cultural identity, family, faith, and other experiences that are important to you. You can expect our work to be supportive and collaborative, with space for reflection, curiosity, and growth at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you are currently experiencing, relevant parts of your history, your relationships and support systems, your strengths, and what you hope to gain from therapy. From there, we’ll work together to develop goals that reflect your needs, values, and priorities. As our sessions continue, we may explore recurring emotional or relationship patterns, significant past experiences, current stressors, and the ways your family, culture, identity, and life experiences influence how you see yourself and the world around you. Sessions are collaborative and conversational. I’ll support you in developing greater insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while identifying opportunities for healthier coping, stronger relationships, and meaningful personal growth. Therapy is a process, and everyone moves through it differently. I strive to meet you where you are and create a supportive space where we can work toward your goals together at a pace that feels right for you.
