Alisha Arkebauer, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Alisha Arkebauer, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in mental health and forensics. I earned my Master's in Social Work from California State University, Sacramento. For the last 20 years, I have helped people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds improve their lives and heal from mental and emotional distress. I place emphasis on developing a positive therapeutic relationship that fosters empowerment and safety. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from a wide range of theories and techniques selected based on their relevance to each unique client's situation and needs. Currently, I provide direct services to clients struggling to manage, overcome, and cope with challenges related to trauma, involvement in the criminal justice system, abuse, addiction, gender dysphoria, and mental health concerns. I diagnose and treat all types of mental illness, from common disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders (including Antisocial Personality and Borderline Personality) to severe and debilitating illnesses like schizophrenia, clinical depression, and substance use disorders. Additionally, I spent five years in the Army working with active-duty military and the past three years working with law enforcement. I believe a therapeutic environment has a calming effect, reduces stress, and makes clients feel comfortable and safe to be themselves. This creates a climate of trust and understanding where clients can unpack their vulnerabilities and move toward healing. I began my educational journey as a Pre-Med student but discovered chemistry was not my strong point. With a continued passion for science, I shifted my focus to the study of the mind. As I began working in mental health, I found I truly enjoyed helping people better understand how their minds work.
