A therapeutic relationship is truly one of a kind. I strive to create a collaborative environment where my clients can explore their internal world with grace. I am not the expert on the lives of my clients nor do I expect them to have all the answers regarding why they do the things they do, what function certain behaviors serve, or identify what an emotional consequence resulted from any number of situations. I strive to promote self-care, self-compassion, and a sense of curiosity. I am a trauma therapist and have adopted a rather broad definition of trauma. Trauma is any situation or instance that impacts an individual's ability to cope. I work with adolescents and adults by assessing factors such as family dynamics, attachment style, and early childhood trauma to help clients understand where their maladaptive thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors potentially stem from in order to replace those with more positive skills. Trauma work is not simple and easy. It takes courage to explore yourself at this depth. Because of the complexity of trauma work I believe in first establishing a healthy therapeutic relationship where clients feel that they have someone to journey with them through those darker parts of their life. I will incorporate work around emotional awareness and the nervous system, we'll examine boundaries, coping, and creating connections between the past and your present life to figure out what works for you and the way you want to exist.
