Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Alison! My name is Alison Forster, and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles, California. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate University. I understand that life's challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face them alone. I specialize in helping individuals experiencing significant anxiety, depression, unresolved past traumas, or relationship challenges that leave them feeling overwhelmed. I utilize a variety of treatment approaches tailored to your specific needs. Together, we can work towards lasting change and emotional well-being. My approach As a dedicated therapist, my passion is helping clients learn effective coping skills to reduce symptoms and feel better quickly. I utilize Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT), which combines traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques with mindfulness practices. In this therapy, you not only work on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns but also learn to become more aware of your present-moment experiences without judgment. This approach is especially helpful in promoting emotional regulation, reducing constant overthinking, and improving overall well-being and a sense of ?not feeling stuck.? My focus I prefer to work with adults over the age of 18, especially young adults facing pressures from academic and career stress to identity and relationship concerns. I am knowledgeable in treating anxiety, depression, narcissistic injury stemming from partner or family abuse, as well as life changes such as divorce, job loss, or the death of a pet or loved one. I also have over 15 years of experience treating those recovering from substance use disorder, especially women who may feel disempowered and struggle with self-esteem challenges.
