Welcome! Thank you for checking out my profile. I'll keep it brief while sharing a bit about me and my background. I transferred to SUNY Purchase after my sophomore year to study film, but that proved more challenging than expected, so I changed course. I ultimately earned my undergraduate degree in Literature and Secondary Education. Little did I know that my creativity and passion for education would beautifully weave into the only real career I’ve ever had—that of a social worker. I found myself in human services quite by accident in 1988 when I came upon a sidewalk booth seeking volunteers for the Gay Men’s Health Crisis in New York City. Without hesitation, I signed up to be a "pediatric buddy." Soon after, I secured my first job in the AIDS services sector, working in multiple settings through 1994 as the virus devastated a generation of men, women, and children. Realizing social work was my true calling, I enrolled in Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service, where I earned my Master of Social Work degree in 1999. Since then, I have worked in diverse settings including child welfare, geriatric case management, end-of-life care, community mental health with adults, teens, and children, and for the past nine years, addiction recovery. My therapeutic style is client-centered, meaning I meet you where YOU are, and we work outward from there. My go-to treatment modality is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is based on the idea that your underlying thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world affect your emotions, which in turn influence your behavior and functioning. I routinely use techniques such as motivational interviewing (“what makes me want to change, and how do I do it”), cognitive restructuring (“how do I change my thinking to feel better”), and dialectical behavioral therapy (“what concrete tools can I use to manage anxiety, mood instability, and relationship problems”).

What should a new client know about working with you?

I engage in relaxed, interpersonal dialogue that is focused on engagement and development of rapport. I am not your judge. I see myself more as your guide, aiming towards providing "unconditional positive regard" and acceptance as we partner in the change process.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
