Getting to know Alison Silver
Hi there, I'm Alison!
I am Alison Silver. I earned my Bachelor?s degree from New York University and a Master of Science degree in Counseling with a dual concentration in Chemical Dependence and Bereavement from Pace University. I currently hold the ACS (Approved Clinical Supervisor), NCC (National Certified Counselor), CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional), CCTMH (Certified Clinical Tele-mental Health Provider), Master CASAC (Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), and LMHC-DP (Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Diagnostic Privilege) credentials. I have accrued almost three decades of experience in mental health, along with extensive additional experience in addiction.
My approach
I practice from a person-centered perspective while incorporating CBT, DBT, Trauma-Focused, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I am also Gottman certified to support my work in couples counseling.
My focus
Most of my work involves people ages 13 and up. With students, I usually focus on school-related goals and interpersonal skills to improve social relationships. With adults, I address anxiety, depressive symptoms, relationship issues, life coaching, and treatment for bipolar and personality disorders. I am certified to provide couples counseling and professional supervision for other licensed clinicians seeking contracted supervision.

My success in treating clients comes from a straightforward, solution-focused approach that helps clients move forward rather than remain stuck in their challenges.
