Getting to know Dr. Allyson Kayton

"The provider is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. At Sage & Stone Holistic Counseling, I help individuals and families find strength and support through life’s most delicate moments. As a board-certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Integrative Mental Health Counselor, I bring over 25 years of experience caring for families through infertility, NICU stays, birth trauma, postpartum challenges, grief, and loss. My holistic, trauma-informed approach integrates counseling, mindfulness, yoga therapy, and mind-body practices to promote emotional healing and nervous system regulation. I also specialize in clinician and first responder burnout, offering compassionate care for those who spend their lives caring for others. Together, we’ll create a safe space for healing—where you can reconnect with resilience, rediscover balance, and move toward wholeness in mind, body, and spirit.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for your unique story. I believe healing begins in a safe, nonjudgmental space—one where you can slow down, feel seen, and begin to reconnect with yourself. I integrate evidence-based counseling methods with holistic mind-body practices such as mindfulness, breathwork, and gentle nervous system support. Together, we’ll explore practical tools for resilience and emotional balance while addressing deeper layers of trauma, stress, or grief that may be impacting your well-being. Clients often describe my style as calm, nurturing, and empowering. Whether you’re navigating postpartum changes, NICU stress, infertility, or burnout from caregiving or clinical work, I’ll walk beside you with empathy and genuine care—helping you move from survival toward strength and wholeness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session begins with a gentle check-in to explore what feels most present for you—whether it’s stress, grief, relationship challenges, or burnout. Together, we’ll identify your goals and move at a pace that feels supportive and safe. I use a blend of evidence-based talk therapy and holistic mind-body approaches such as mindfulness, grounding exercises, and breathwork to help regulate the nervous system and foster emotional healing. Over time, we’ll uncover patterns, strengthen coping tools, and create meaningful change that supports both your emotional and physical well-being. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling calmer, more connected, and empowered with practical tools for daily life. Every step is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs and life experiences.
