Getting to know Alyson Davis
Alyson Davis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Virginia and Maryland, who received her training from Valdosta State University. Since Alyson was little she carried a love for storytelling and telling a story the "right way." Any time her parents would improvise, or miss a line in one of her cherished childhood books, in effort to rush through or embellish the plot, she would instinctively stop them and ask to correct the error. These humorous experiences lead to a greater calling in the field of mental health. As a Narrative Therapist, Alyson helps clients to reauthor their stories and tell them the way they were meant to be told rather than through a problem perspective.
What should a new client know about working with you?
When working with me clients should expect a creative and non-traditional structure. Sessions will get real; meaning, I have a direct approach that works to challenge the client's problem. I bring energy and enthusiasm to sessions.
When talking in session I ask clients to be aware of their bodies and breathing. I frequently check in and ask for permission before proceeding to deeper parts of a client's story.
My goal is to create an open and nonjudgemental space where taboo thoughts and ideas can be expressed freely. Clients can expect to be the expert in their experience and to be themselves.
Clients can use language and expression that makes them comfortable as long as they refrain from the use of racist language or hate speech. This is to create mutual safety in the room.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
