Getting to know Alyson Hinz

Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I use a creative and integrative approach to keep my clients engaged in therapy. I look forward to providing a safe place to start setting achievable goals! My primary platform is teletherapy, which I believe offers flexibility and access—whether you are a college student looking for a session between classes or seeking support from the comfort of your home. Therapy can be a great place to start exploring how your thoughts and feelings impact your behaviors without judgment or bias. I work to tailor treatment toward each individual’s needs and strive for my clients to feel empowered in the therapeutic process! I specialize in working with teens, college students, and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, chronic health issues or pain, and life changes. I also support clients going through transitional times, such as starting a new job, moving or relocating, retirement, and transitioning into college. If you are new to this, feeling stuck, and do not know where to start, I have experience with newcomers to therapy! We will start slowly, at your pace, and work collaboratively to learn more about mental health, coping skills, and taking actionable steps to better your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

"I tailor my session to fit your goals, needs, and comfort. I like to ask how you learn and process information whether that is through visuals, talking, psychoeducation, creative and/or interactive therapies,.During our first session, we will get to know each other and see what style of therapy works best for you. I generally, will do a brief check-in each week at the start of the session and then let you lead the session however you see fit based on what you need that week. In the first few sessions, we will set attainable specific goals, check in with progress each week, and adjust them if needed! "

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
