Alyssa Hinesley, LPC

Psychotherapist
TN
Hi there, I'm Alyssa! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC/MHSP), based in Lebanon, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Liberty University. I offer telehealth services for women struggling with codependency, grief, narcissistic abuse, divorce, phase-of-life adjustment, and various women’s issues. I also work with couples, focusing on marriage enrichment, communication, and conflict resolution. My approach to therapy varies because I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all." I use an attachment lens for case conceptualization and, based on clients’ needs, primarily employ Cognitive Behavioral, Emotion Focused, and Solution Focused therapies throughout the therapeutic process. In couples counseling, I use a lot of Emotion Focused Therapy interlaced with The Gottman Method. My counseling style is a great fit for women struggling in relationships and/or with various women’s issues. Codependency and divorce are areas I specialize in. Couples who need very direct feedback and guidance are also a great fit for my therapy style and approach. I create a client-centered environment for my clients. I am a very directive and feedback-oriented therapist. I believe a collaborative, working relationship is necessary to build trust and create change. I became interested in therapy while earning my first degree. I originally wanted to go into the medical field but realized that in the world of trauma, it would be difficult to find time to raise a family. I wanted to help people and felt the Lord moving me toward an unconventional yet practical way to minister to others—counseling is where I landed. Goal setting is based on my clients and their goals. I do not set goals for my clients; however, I facilitate an environment of accountability in which they can set SMART goals that are achievable.
