Hi, my name is Marisol Arizpe-Fernandez I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) I earned my Master’s in Psychology from California State University Long Beach Over the last 30+ years, I have worked with individuals, children, adolescents, and families to help them navigate life’s challenges, including depression, anxiety, relational issues, life transitions, and adjustment My approach I use a combination of approaches: the humanistic approach to foster self-acceptance, personal growth, and greater self-awareness; family systems to improve communication and understanding between family members; mindfulness-based practices to increase emotional regulation and self-awareness; and play therapy to support self-expression, process experiences, and resolve life challenges I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where we work together to achieve therapeutic goals Parents are an important part of the process when I work with children and adolescents My focus I have worked with individuals of various ages and families dealing with anxiety, depression, adjustment, and relational issues I focus on personal challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, boundaries, and life transitions When working with families, it’s important to address relational dynamics, improve communication, resolve conflict, and manage family stressors like parenting issues or the impact of life transitions such as divorce, remarriage, or loss My communication style It’s critical to establish a secure, accepting environment for clients to develop rapport and trust As clients work toward their therapeutic objectives, I acknowledge their backgrounds, values, and viewpoints while communicating in a culturally respectful way My journey to mental healthcare Growing up in a tight-knit family, I saw firsthand how a strong family support system can shape people’s lives.
