Getting to know Amanda Martin

Hi there! My name is Amanda, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley. My background combines trauma and community-based mental health, and I work with clients from diverse backgrounds. I most frequently support individuals experiencing highly intrusive mental health and trauma symptoms, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder. My work with clients focuses on addressing the concerns that prevent you from living a fulfilling life. Together, we explore questions such as: How can we move from surviving to thriving and become the best version of ourselves? How do we achieve balance in life and build meaningful, healthy relationships? What can we do with intrusive thoughts, shame, and fear that hold us back from pursuing life goals? Therapy can be an important part of moving forward. I take a collaborative approach, creating a healing and supportive space to help you start moving toward what you want out of life. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent seven years in crisis work, supporting individuals experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault. My background also includes working with people facing homelessness, incarceration, substance use, and severe and persistent mental health challenges. If you feel I might be a good fit for you, I would be happy to begin working together. Let’s see if we can move you from surviving to thriving.

What should a new client know about working with you?

What our first session would typically involve is working together to identify where you are in life, where you want to be, and what you would like to work on to move you forward. It is my goal for therapy that each client I work with leaves sessions feeling heard, supported, and empowered to move themselves forward towards better change. Therapy is about creating a safe space for expression and to explore tools that move you towards change, healing, and managing internal and external challenges.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
