Amanna Parker, LMSW

Psychotherapist
812 Woodbury Rd, Woodbury, NY
Hi, I’m Amanna! I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who is passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without judgment—and know that you’re not facing life’s challenges alone. My background includes working with children, adolescents, and adults in community mental health, crisis intervention, behavioral health, and mobile treatment settings. I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, emotional regulation, and everyday challenges. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves while working toward meaningful growth and healing. Outside of the therapeutic space, you’ll find me spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, or finding little moments of joy in everyday life. I believe laughter, authenticity, and genuine connection can be incredibly healing, and I strive to bring those qualities into every session. Whether you’re taking your very first step into therapy or returning to continue your journey, I’m excited to meet you, support you, and celebrate your progress along the way!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and practical. I aim to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels manageable. My approach is tailored to your needs and may include evidence-based strategies to explore patterns, build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and address current challenges. During our first visit, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, relevant history, and what you hope to gain. You are encouraged to ask questions and share feedback throughout the process so we can shape therapy together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our sessions, I want you to feel heard, respected, and comfortable being yourself. We will begin by checking in on how you have been doing since our last session and discussing any concerns, challenges, or changes that may have come up. Together, we will identify the issues that are most important to you and explore how your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences may be affecting your well-being. I use a collaborative, person-centered approach, meaning that your goals and experiences help guide the work we do together. Depending on your needs, sessions may include supportive counseling, exploring patterns of thinking and behavior, developing healthy coping skills, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and identifying practical strategies that you can use between sessions. We may also work on building self-esteem, improving relationships, managing stress, navigating life transitions, and strengthening your ability to advocate for yourself. My goal is not simply to help you get through difficult moments, but to help you develop the insight, skills, and confidence needed to create meaningful and lasting change. We will move at a pace that feels appropriate for you, and treatment goals can be adjusted as your needs change.
