Amber Smith, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Amber Smith, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's in Counseling from National University. I view therapy as a collaborative experience between myself and the client. My role is to support you in developing new skills and insights that will allow you to grow and thrive. My approach I use various theoretical approaches depending on the client's needs. My most commonly used approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based method effective in treating depression and anxiety. It provides skills that can be used throughout life as you face challenges. My focus I work with adults experiencing mild to moderate depression and anxiety, life transitions, job-related stress, and low self-esteem. I am trained in Perinatal Mental Health and specialize in supporting mothers with anxiety and/or depression symptoms postpartum and beyond. My communication style I create a relaxed, supportive, judgment-free environment. I have a friendly but direct communication style because I value clients' time and their desire to feel better quickly. My journey to mental healthcare From a young age, I noticed people felt comfortable sharing personal struggles with me. I felt honored by their trust and wanted to use this skill to help many people, realizing that becoming a therapist was a perfect fit. My goals for you I use a collaborative approach to goal setting. Clients are experts in their own lives and know what areas or symptoms to focus on. Through exploring these, I support you in developing specific therapeutic goals that are measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
