Getting to know Amelia Buchanan
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker who supports children, teens, and adults in navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, and perfectionism. I create a warm, individualized space where clients feel safe to explore, grow, and build a stronger sense of self.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach is rooted in trust and collaboration, drawing from psychodynamic therapy as well as evidence-based practices like TF-CBT, DBT, and Play Therapy. I have experience working in both school and private practice settings, and holds a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University.
Whether I’m working with a young child or a young adult, I meet each person with curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for their unique story.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
When you are ready to get started, schedule an initial assessment visit (intake) through Zocdoc. After you book an appointment, a care coordinator will reach out to review your method of payment and/or insurance number and answer any initial questions you may have before our first visit.
