Hello and welcome! My name is Amey Davis, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my MEd in Counseling Education and my Bachelor's degree from California State University, Sacramento. I have had the honor of being part of growth and healing with a variety of clients. While my licensure might imply I work solely with couples or families, I have extensive experience with individual clients as well. My hope is to provide a comfortable and compassionate environment that allows clients to explore and communicate their emotions in a way that improves their life and relationships. My approach My therapeutic approach leans toward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, DBT), but I also incorporate other helpful frameworks. I seek to understand what every client is going through and work together to create a plan that reveals results. My expertise lies in helping people understand their emotions to respond to and communicate from them in a healthy way. My focus Life is constantly changing and challenging us. Our emotional regulation impacts our ability to manage these changes and developmental challenges. I help clients through these times to grow and learn from the experience. I focus on improving assertive communication, reducing anxiety and compulsive behaviors, and developing long-lasting coping strategies for growth beyond therapy. My communication style My goal is to create a comfortable, friendly, compassionate space where clients feel safe to explore emotions, especially uncomfortable or painful ones. I strive to be encouraging and supportive while gently confronting clients to overcome fears. I believe honest, direct, and respectful communication is important, and I welcome client feedback as part of my growth as a therapist. My journey to mental healthcare I came to be a therapist later in life compared to societal norms.
