Psychotherapist

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here! I work with adult individuals and couples, specializing in clients struggling with people-pleasing and perfectionism. Many of my clients have careers in the helping professions, and I'm experienced in addressing the challenges they often face, including depression, anxiety, burnout, and vicarious trauma. Often, my clients are caring, compassionate people who feel stuck. They are exhausted by their relationships and feel like they give more than they receive. They are overwhelmed by the many demands of work, family, and simply being human. Many are self-critical and find it hard to quiet their racing minds. I help clients like you reclaim your time and energy. Together, we'll work to help you feel confident and show up authentically in your relationships. I love supporting clients in finding an inner sense of calm and learning to be kinder to themselves. This work will help you feel more present, joyful, and connected to your loved ones. I hold a Master's in Counseling from The Center for Connection, Healing & Change, LLC, which informs my compassionate and client-centered approach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and a touch of humor. I aim to truly understand you and what you are going through, in a comfortable space free from judgment. I want to help you feel seen and heard, and support you with meeting your therapy goals. I am culturally humble and welcome clients from all backgrounds and orientations. I work from an attachment lens, and I believe that we are shaped by past experiences, especially during childhood. During childhood, we form beliefs about ourselves, other people, and the world, and we carry those with us. Often the patterns that are keeping you stuck, such as people pleasing or perfectionism, were learned in childhood and were the best way you had of coping in your situation. Now, as an adult, you have the opportunity to unlearn old beliefs and do something different, and it's an honor for me to help clients do that! I can help you create new patterns so that you can meet your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Together, we do a deep dive into the patterns that keep you stuck. We discuss where you learned these patterns and how they have served you in the past. Then we collaborate to develop strategies that support you with fully embracing your authentic, confident, caring self so that you can go back into the world and live your best life! For clients wanting a an approach that addresses trauma, I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS sessions with me involve mapping out the different parts of you- the angry parts, the people pleasing parts, the joyful parts, the self critical parts, the parts that are skeptical of therapy- and getting to know them better. I will support you with giving voice to your parts and healing parts that have been wounded or traumatized. In my experience, this work radically shifts how clients relate to themselves and others. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples. Together we identify patterns that leave you feeling angry, isolated, or disconnected. We do a deep dive into what you're feeling, what you're thinking, and how you protect yourself when you and your partner are not getting along. Then we focus on creating emotional safety so that you can be more vulnerable with your partner. Doing this work helps to break the patterns the cause disconnection and create new patterns that help partners feel closer and more secure.
