Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Amy! My name is Amy Duplan, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Azusa Pacific University and my Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton. As a trauma-informed therapist, my focus is helping individuals who have experienced past trauma learn to build a meaningful life with meaningful relationships. My approach I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens and utilize a combination of Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approaches to help individuals process past (attachment) traumas, identify defense mechanisms, and develop a healthy relationship with themselves and others. My goal is to help individuals come to terms with their hurts, take accountability for their healing, and build healthy support networks to begin living a richer, more meaningful life. My focus I typically work with adults who have experienced childhood attachment wounds or complex trauma and who face difficulties in adulthood with relationships, self-esteem, and daily functioning. I also help individuals with personality disorders identify defense mechanisms formed early in life that make it difficult to get along with others. Additionally, I work with couples to identify their attachment styles and improve communication by healing their own attachment wounds, understanding their partner’s wounds, and learning to express and meet each other’s needs to increase overall relationship satisfaction. My communication style Coming from a coaching and teaching background, I provide my clients with psychoeducation about their diagnosis and treatment strategies. I am a hands-on therapist who encourages clients to look at themselves honestly and openly, take accountability for their healing and actions, all while maintaining a non-judgmental stance.
