Getting to know Amy Evans

Hi there, I'm Amy! My name is Amy Evans, and I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara. My approach to therapy is integrative, utilizing evidence-based practices while focusing on connecting with and understanding each individual’s goals and needs. I highly value a strength-based, positive, and supportive methodology where treatment centers on the individual’s strengths and goals. My approach Most importantly, I work collaboratively with the person seeking change. I find that people often know what they want and can benefit from structure and encouragement to help them reach their goals. I use a Solution-Focused Therapy model as appropriate, which is a goal-focused, evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps clients create solutions rather than focusing on problems. I also incorporate a cognitive behavioral approach, helping people understand the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be impacting their lives. My focus I work with individuals, couples, and families—people of all ages, from teens through the lifespan. I find great success working with individuals facing life changes or needing to make important changes in their lives. I have many years of experience supporting people dealing with abuse and trauma, complex family systems, developmental disabilities/autism spectrum disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, bereavement/grief, and many other issues. I have great respect for my clients, recognizing their point of view and providing coordination of care with other professionals when necessary—for example, teaming with a psychiatrist if medication management is needed. I also provide information, education, and emotional support throughout the treatment process.
