Psychotherapist
TN
Hi there, I'm Amy! Deciding to work with a therapist is a hard choice; opening up to a stranger about your worries and fears can be vulnerable. It's my job to make our sessions comfortable and safe for you to open up, work towards change, and ultimately feel peace in your life. I like working with women ages 25-50 who struggle with life transitions, relationship issues, and anxiety. I also like to work with couples who are struggling with a trust violation, communication issues, or seeking premarital counseling. My approach I approach therapy as a joint contract- I show up and offer a space for processing, identifying patterns, and creating solutions, while you come with an open mind, desire to do the work, and hope for change. I use therapy techniques that help to reshape your thoughts and perspectives, understand your past and your relationship patterns, and feel more confident and less perfectionistic. With couples, I like to get to the root of your common fights and find common ground. I also love to facilitate more meaningful conversations between my couples so they can connect more openly. My focus My clients tend to feel stuck in their current lives, or overwhelmed with recent changes like motherhood/parenthood, a move, a new stage of life, a relationship change, or loss of identity. I like to help clients connect to their values because I find that the more we are anchored to who we are, the better we can handle the ups and downs of life. My couple clients tend to feel disconnected from their partner or are hurting from a trust violation. For those situations, I help my couples grow trust again and focus on the connection they're both lacking. My communication style I am warm and people-centered, and love to laugh in session (when appropriate!) Therapy is serious, but that doesn't mean we can't have moments of levity. My journey to mental healthcare Ever since I was a child, I have loved hearing people's stories and wanted to provide support.
