Amy Jennings, LCSW

Amy Jennings, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
I earned my MSW at VCU. I am a Virginia native who is deeply committed to supporting children, adolescents, and families in the community. I have found that my best work is with women who are experiencing life changes or challenges, men who are in law enforcement or have a military background, and people who have experienced trauma. In my outpatient practice, I use a client-centered, somatic approach, honoring the mind-body connection and recognizing that healing often begins by listening to both emotional experiences and physical responses. I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to move at their own pace. I have a direct but gentle approach to communication. I use humor as a tool, and I believe in authentic relationship building. I have worked with children and families since 2004. I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2009 with a degree in Human Development and went into the workforce. I decided to go back to school and get my MSW in 2016, graduating in 2018. I work full time as a School Social Worker, which is my passion. I serve as a therapist in a part time capacity. My patients and I develop and monitor treatment goals together! I utilize standardized scales to determine effectiveness of treatment, along with perceived experiences.
