Getting to know Amy Kendric

Hi, my name is Amy, and I first want to acknowledge how difficult and scary it feels to begin the process of therapy, either for the first time or starting with a new therapist. I take very seriously the enormous strength that takes, and I work very hard to ensure that you feel safe and heard as we begin the therapeutic relationship. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 15 years of experience providing counseling in both inpatient and outpatient centers. I received my Master's degree in Counseling in 2008 from Webster University. I had the privilege of working in an inpatient eating disorder facility for five years and have continued that work in outpatient settings. I have a passion for connecting with teenagers and building a safe place with an adult where they can voice their feelings and experiences without fear of judgment. I also especially enjoy working with young adult women as they navigate their way through the process of beginning adulthood. I have experience with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and general women's issues. I am especially passionate about working with CPTSD and PTSD. I have received training and supervision in working with trauma, as it is a highly specialized field. Trauma survivors need validation, belief, compassion, and acceptance first and foremost before a trusting relationship can be established. I have worked with women exiting toxic relationships, having endured narcissistic abuse and/or infidelity (betrayal trauma), which is many times misunderstood by well-intentioned people. My approach is warm, compassionate, and highly empathetic as I work to establish a safe environment for healing to take place.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During our first session, my goal is to make sure you feel we are a good fit. Having the right therapist for you is critical to your process. From there, we will work together to identify goals and begin the process. I am connected to and enjoy providing information and resources to assist in your healing.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I was initially hopeful about this therapist based on her bio and specialties, but the session was disappointing. She dominated the conversation, making numerous assumptions with little to no prior input from me. I’m accustomed to 30-minute sessions, so I was surprised when this one approached an hour. This should have been communicated in advance by either the company or the therapist. While I understand that rapport-building and gathering background information take time, it would have been helpful to know the expected session length beforehand. Additionally, unless you're a current victim of relationship abuse looking to leave, this therapist may not be the best fit. A brief survey before the session to gauge client goals, along with clear expectations for session lengths, would be beneficial.

Amy has been like a miracle in my life. Through her guidance and suggestions I have achieved much better mental health. She is kind and funny and knowledgeable. I am grateful and can't wait to continue in therapy with her and continue to grow and find better peace and understanding.
Amy is so many more than the two options I’m allowed to pick. She’s all those things. Funny, open minded, warm, direct, you get the picture. My daughter struggled to find anyone she could connect with. Amy has connected with her and opened her up. She’s like talking to a friend who has the best advice and doesn’t judge. Thanks Amy!
I was skeptical of online therapy and really only started because I felt like I had no other options to gain control of my thoughts and feelings. I am so glad I found Amy. I am able to process through trauma/anxiety/daily life issues with her and leave sessions feeling like a weight has been lifted. Even if I do not want to chat about things that upset me I enjoy our conversations about life and the world so much! She is genuine, funny, warm, and has a beautiful way of putting things in perspective. I have been thriving and I can attribute a bit of that to Amy for being fabulous and giving me the tools to grow.
I wish I could select more things like warm, humorous, empowering, solution oriented etc. Really..what an amazing experience it's been to have Amy as my therapist. It's like having a conversation with a really good friend who just wants the best for you. I learn so much as well and the changes I have already made since starting with her a few weeks ago. She helped me realize the strength I have and has given me tools THAT ACTUALLY WORK to get things done!!!
