Hi there, I'm Amy! My name is Amy Kilgore, and I am a licensed professional counselor in Virginia. I am passionate about serving others on their healing journey and love to witness my clients step out in courage toward a healthier, more productive, and fulfilling life. I hold a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively. My approach My approach is integrative, combining various theories and techniques to address each client's unique needs. Though holistic and individualized, at the crux of my work is a faith-based perspective within a cognitive-behavioral framework. I believe faith and reason are without conflict and that mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being are interdependent. Modalities I often use alongside cognitive behavioral therapy include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Somatic Therapy, and Trauma Therapy (including EMDR and TF-CBT). My focus With broad professional experience, I am confident in treating various mental health diagnoses across all ages. I have the most experience helping clients with trauma and abuse, stress and anxiety, addictions, relational and attachment issues, eating disorders, and grief and loss. My communication style I strive to create a calm, structured, and judgment-free atmosphere to foster open communication and relationship-building. Many clients share that it feels easy to talk with me without fear of judgment. My journey to mental healthcare As a "wounded healer," I’ve experienced trauma and grief in life. Through these trials, I have consistently sought to guide others through their difficulties. My fascination with the mind and human behavior attracted me to therapy, and compassion drives me to do this work.
