Getting to know Amy VanBecelaere

Finding your soul's purpose is not always easy. With all the pressures of modern-day society, we can often get lost and feel depleted. Are you searching for a sense of wholeness and meaning in your life? Do you want to move past old reactive coping strategies and step into the fullness life has to offer? Do you find yourself obsessing over food, weight, or body image and want to break free? If you find yourself at a crossroads and are ready to let go of what no longer serves you, I can help you take the first step. Combining evidence-based practices with creative interventions, I support clients in healing holistically. I specialize in working with adults who struggle with disordered eating, perfectionism, self-criticism, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Primarily, I work with women who want to deeply heal. My passion is helping clients discover their values and use them to create more joy and satisfaction in their lives. Together, we can work to improve your self-esteem, outlook on life, and process any challenges. I hold a Master’s degree in Dance Movement Therapy and Counseling from Columbia College Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree from Adrian College. Therapy is a brave and bold decision to make for yourself, and I am grateful that you have arrived at my page. I approach clients with gentleness, humanness, authenticity, and understanding. With a spirit of warmth at the forefront of my work, I will encourage you toward making the changes your soul knows you need to make. Our work is always collaborative.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our initial session, I work to get to know your background, your goals for therapy and some of the challenges you might be facing right now. My belief is that everything you need for healing is already within you. It is my job to help you activate it through connecting to your healthy self. My hope is that you walk away from our first session with an idea of the goals that we will be working on together and an eagerness to get started. In our following sessions, I will encourage you to more deeply process life content that is most important to you right now. This may be current issues or issues from the past. You will gain a deeper understanding of yourself and be armed with new coping skills and techniques to battle even the darkest of days.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
