“I really appreciated her flexibility. It was a video visit and the link wasn't working so she improvised and we did a phone call instead which was still wonderful and fulfilling. I unpacked a lot and really appreciated her listening and insight. She seemed very empathetic and enthusiastic and being there for me”

Getting to know Amy Volweider

Welcome! My name is Amy Volweider, LCSW, and I am on a mission to bring out the best in the people around me. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor’s degree from Bethel College. My specialties include treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress reduction. I utilize the latest in evidence-based treatment uniquely tailored to each individual, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness techniques. I especially enjoy working with creatives, perfectionists, and those who struggle with self-compassion. I genuinely believe most people are doing the best they can with what they’ve got but sometimes need a little push to get to where they need to go. I’m here to give you that extra push. As our lives continue to unfold during these challenging times, I’m available to provide you with a collaborative and judgment-free zone that sets aside the time and space you need to heal and grow. I’m a warm, spirited, and patient therapist whose goal is to enable people to find more balance and joy in their lives. My approach to setting goals with clients is to collaborate and develop an individualized plan that includes ways to measure progress while staying flexible enough to pivot and update goals depending on each person’s needs and circumstances. Clients should expect a casual and judgment-free space in our first session to begin sharing their stories. I’ll lead with some general questions to gather background information and provide some loose structure until we find a pace that feels most comfortable.
