Getting to know Ananda Genece

I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, attachment trauma, chronic stress, burnout, racial and cultural stress, low self esteem, and difficulty with self expression. I also work with those seeking to better understand themselves, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and change emotional or relational patterns that leave them feeling stuck. Coming from a Caribbean background, I understand how culture, family, and community can shape vulnerability, identity, and attitudes toward mental health. I am especially committed to creating an affirming space for people from marginalized communities to explore their experiences, relationships, and sense of self with care, patience, and compassion.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma informed, and nonjudgmental. I use psychodynamic therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and somatic techniques to help clients understand the connection between past experiences, present emotions, relationship patterns, and the ways they respond to stress. In therapy, we may work on anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, self esteem, relationship concerns, attachment wounds, boundaries, communication, and coping with chronic stress or burnout. I will support you in recognizing patterns, developing practical coping skills, and building a stronger relationship with yourself and others. Therapy is tailored to your goals, identity, experiences, and what feels most helpful to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin by talking about what brings you to therapy, what you are experiencing now, your history, relationships, strengths, and what you hope will change. Together, we identify goals and begin understanding the emotional, behavioral, and relationship patterns connected to concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, low self esteem, or relationship difficulties. As therapy progresses, we will work on developing coping and emotional regulation skills while exploring deeper patterns that may be keeping you stuck. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust our work as your needs change. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel more confident navigating emotions and relationships, and create meaningful changes that extend beyond the therapy room.
