Getting to know Andrea A. Jones

How wonderful that you are taking this major step toward seeking a higher quality of life, whether for yourself or a loved one! Though your situation is unique and will require targeted goals, these past several years have left many people feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, hopeless, helpless, and/or “mentally foggy.” Sometimes, entire families scramble to manage the ripple effect of one member's mental illness and to help maintain a quality of life for everyone involved. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Campbellsville University and help clients with topics such as recovery from trauma, adjustment to major life changes, managing mood dysregulation, stabilizing activities of daily living, and implementing healthy coping skills. Even events generally considered “good” (such as buying a house, getting a promotion, or getting married) rate high on the stress index. Your list of concerns will be unique to you and will require a targeted approach to build goals. I am especially interested in coping with grief, loss, and trauma; reconstructing lives according to choices rather than reactions; blended and bi/multi-cultural families; our LGBTQ communities; the multi-generational ripple effect of mental illness on families; and the dual diagnosis of developmental disability and mental illness. I believe strongly in the healing effects of creativity, so working on a song or an art project in conjunction with other goals is not out of the question!

What should a new client know about working with you?

In private practice, we work in phases: I/we get to know you, we identify 1-2 pressing issues, work on those for several weeks, let you try out some changes in your approach, then come back a few months later if you would like to explore the results and/or focus on a new topic. That kind of “intermittent reinforcement” helps clients remain both accountable to their goals and motivated to move towards a deep and genuine experience of the world from a new perspective. Re: managing psychiatric concerns, there IS life after diagnosis! I work with clients and families to help them understand the full spectrum experience of psychiatric hospitalization (before, during and after), and to maximize treatment value of various levels of care (IP/RTC/Detox, PHP, IOP, OP.)

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Andrea is warm and empathetic. She displays good knowledge of the intake history provided and continuity from one visit to the next, which facilitates progress. She is also solution oriented and offers a range of alternatives to consider and discuss. Her approach is very much a partnership.
It's difficult to pick only 2 options above. I would mark all the boxes if allowed. Andrea challenges me in the best way and I find personal growth in each session.
