Others seek support for concerns related to work/life balance, relationships, or career transitions. Clients I work with often feel supported through empathic engagement and active listening. My naturally soft-spoken manner tends to put clients at ease, especially those attending counseling for the first time. My journey to mental healthcare is inspired by the belief that “We rise by lifting others.” — Robert Ingersoll. In our first session, I ask what you would like to see differently by the end of our time together. At the start of each session, I invite you to share what you want to focus on that day, ensuring your needs are met whether it’s our first meeting or the sixth. During our initial session, I will ask what brings you to counseling, what you hope to gain, and about any current mental health symptoms. I also inquire about your past health history, family dynamics, and any significant traumatic events. These questions help me gain a full picture of you so I can best support your journey.
